CURLING INFORMATION

Curling is an Olympic Sport played on a sheet of ice, towards a target area that is segmented into 4 concentric circles. It is similar to shuffleboard with normally two teams of four players taking turns to slide heavy polished granite stones towards the centre circle. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a game, with the stones resting closest to the centre at the conclusion of each end. A game usually consists of eight or ten ends. Curling was invented in Scotland in the 16th century, a curling stone inscribed with the date of 1511 being discovered.
